RACE TICKET. MANSELL'S CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING SEASON. Mansell had won 9/14 races before this one (a new F1 record) and was to lead the race until lap 44 when an engine failure meant his Williams teammate inherited the victory. Suzuka had been the scene of the title deciding race in the previous five seasons but the dominance of the Williams FW14B and Mansell meant that the title had been decided 4 races earlier in Hungary with Mansell replacing Senna as World Drivers' Champion. The programme is full of articles on Mansell and his past exploits in F1 and as usual there is much of Senna who the Japanese worshipped. Sadly 1992 marked the end of the McLaren Honda era of dominance with Honda's withdrawal from F1 at the end of the season and it was not to be a season where McLaren could compete well. The Programme with copy of qualifying timesheet is listed separately. Race Podium: Riccardo Patrese 1st, Gerhard Berger 2nd, Martin Brundle 3rd.
